Children’s Rights Cinema Club: First Session Dedicated to International Women’s Day

On 7 March, the OSCE Academy hosted the first session of the Children’s Rights Cinema Club, organized as a continuation of the Children’s Rights Book Club project with support from the Global Campus of Human Rights and the Right Livelihood Foundation. The participants were members of the Child Leadership Team (CLT), a group of motivated teenagers committed to learning about and advocating for children’s rights. Building on the experience of the previous book club sessions, the Cinema Club introduces a new format where participants explore important social themes through films and open discussions. The first session was dedicated to International Women’s Day and featured a screening of the animated short film “One Small Step.” The film tells the inspiring story of a young girl who dreams of becoming an astronaut and highlights the importance of perseverance, encouragement, and equal opportunities. After the screening, participants shared their thoughts and reflections on the story, discussing how support from family, society, and communities can influence young people’s aspirations and opportunities. The conversation also touched upon the broader themes of equality, dreams, and the importance of believing in one’s goals. The Children’s Rights Cinema Club aims to create a space where young people can reflect on social issues, exchange ideas, and learn from one another through the powerful medium of cinema. Future sessions will continue exploring different themes related to children’s rights and social justice through carefully selected films and discussions.
