Humboldt International Campus at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin is pleased to announce the launch of a new interdisciplinary course titled “Democratic Resilience and Human Rights Law in Times of Global Crises.” This course is designed to provide students and professionals with an in-depth understanding of how societies can recover from crises, wars, or dictatorships and develop into vibrant and resilient democracies through the application of human rights and international law. Participants will critically explore the concept of Transitology and examine various pathways to and from democracy, gaining the analytical skills necessary to address contemporary global crises.
The course comprises three intensive two-day block seminars scheduled for 25-26 September, 30-31 October, and 27-28 November 2026. Sessions will take place on Fridays and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Successful completion of the course awards participants 6 ECTS credits or a microcredential certificate. Fees are set at €1600 for professionals and €1200 for students, making it accessible for a diverse range of international attendees. This course is an integral part of the Humboldt Perspectives Study Abroad (HPSA) program but is also open as a single course offering to students and professionals outside the Humboldt-Universität community.
The course will be led by Dr. Anja Mihr, PhD, a distinguished political scientist, consultant, professor, writer, and researcher with specialization in International Human Rights Law, Public Policy, and Transitional Justice, with particular focus on Eurasia. Dr. Mihr directs the Center on Governance through Human Rights at the Berlin Governance Platform, holds the DAAD Professorship at the National University Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, and serves as the Academic Director of the EU Global Campus of Human Rights Central Asia programme at the OSCE Academy in Bishkek.
