Dr. Anja Mihr, giving a talk on “Indigenous Rights and Sovereignty” in times of global-local governance at Harvard Kennedy School, Boston, during the German American Conference

On 15 November 2025, Dr. Anja Mihr, Academic Director of the MA in Human Rights and Sustainability (MAHRS) programme, delivered a talk titled “Indigenous Rights and Sovereignty in Times of Global-Local Governance” at the 17th German American Conference (GAC), held at the Harvard Kennedy School in Boston.

The annual conference, taking place from 14–16 November 2025 in Cambridge, MA, is the world’s largest student-led forum on European-American relations, bringing together policymakers, scholars, practitioners, and students to discuss the future of transatlantic cooperation. Under this year’s theme, “Transatlantic Relationship at a Crossroads,” participants engaged in high-level dialogue on international affairs, diplomacy, and global governance.

The 2025 German American Conference featured an opening ceremony at Harvard’s Memorial Church, two days of discussions at the Harvard Kennedy School, and a closing reception at the Prudential Tower overlooking the Boston skyline. Dr. Mihr’s participation underscored the growing importance of integrating indigenous perspectives into global policy debates.
