Hi, I’m Pokiza. I’m currently in the third month of my internship at ANFREL (Asian Network for Free Elections), based in Bangkok, Thailand. This journey has already been incredibly enriching — I’ve gained a lot of knowledge and hands-on experience. Recently, I had the opportunity to serve as a Long-Term International Election Observer during the 2025 National and Local Elections in the Philippines. I observed electoral processes in two provinces and four cities, ensuring that fair and transparent elections were being held. This experience gave me not only a deeper understanding of elections and democracy but also helped me discover new strengths in myself, like quick decision-making, smart problem-solving, and adapting fast under pressure. It also gave me the chance to meet intelligent and inspiring people from different parts of the world who are experts in their fields. I still have two more months to go, and there is still so much more for me to learn — both here and in this field. I’m deeply grateful for this opportunity. Thank you to ANFRE, Global Campus of Human Rights, and the OSCE Academy for their support. I highly recommend applying to the MAHRS program in Central Asia for anyone interested in building a career in human rights. It’s a powerful step toward strengthening democracy, and let’s create a world together where human rights are always respected!
