Child Leadership Team Members Discuss Future Initiatives and Celebrate Climate Photo Contest Winners
On 2 July 2026, active members of the Child Leadership Team (CLT) gathered to discuss priorities and develop ideas for the upcoming academic year as part of the Framework of the Children’s Rights Programme implemented by Global Campus Central Asia with the support of the Right Livelihood Foundation.
The first part of the meeting focused on planning future activities and identifying areas in which CLT members would like to take an active role. Participants expressed a strong interest in environmental issues and proposed establishing a Green Community to raise awareness of the impact of climate change on children’s rights.
As part of this initiative, the participants suggested organizing environmental awareness activities, conducting youth-led research on climate change and children’s rights, and launching a school flashmob to engage students and encourage discussions on environmental protection and climate action. Throughout the discussion, CLT members demonstrated a high level of enthusiasm for research and advocacy, highlighting their commitment to promoting children’s rights through environmental initiatives.
The second part of the meeting featured the award ceremony for the winners of the “Children’s Right to a Clean and Healthy Environment” Photo Contest, organized by Global Campus Central Asia in partnership with the OSCE Academy in Bishkek. The competition invited school students from across Kyrgyzstan to capture, through photography, how climate change and global warming affect children’s right to live in a clean, healthy, and safe environment. The contest received many creative submissions reflecting young people’s perspectives on environmental challenges and their impact on children’s lives.
The winners of the photo contest were announced as follows:
- First Place – Alima Shumkarbekova
- Second Place – Angelika Isabaeva
- Third Place – Asema Begalieva
The meeting concluded with a presentation by Navruz Erkaev entitled “Climate Change and Its Impact on Children’s Rights.“ The presentation explored how climate change affects children’s well-being and fundamental rights while emphasizing the important role that young people can play in promoting environmental sustainability and advocating for children’s rights.
The meeting provided an inspiring platform for young leaders to exchange ideas, shape future initiatives, and strengthen their commitment to creating a more sustainable and child-friendly future.
