Research Workshop on Climate & Conflicts: Redress and Prevention

From 14-16 July 2025 at Global Campus Central Asia/ OSCE Academy in Bishkek hosted a research workshop on Climate & Conflicts: Redress and Prevention.

How urgently does climate change act as a multiplier not only for regional conflicts, but also for human rights infringements and violations, especially those of children and future generations?
Are children’s rights and those of future generations in times of climate change-induced conflicts upheld? Do they have access to schools and receive quality education, and to what extent can the right to a healthy environment and health in general be upheld when entire communities, particularly children, are displaced?

During this workshop, researchers from the Global Campus Caucasus and Central Asia discussed methods and methodologies for approaching climate change-induced conflicts and their consequences and impact on human rights.

It is anticipated that this joint research between regional hubs of the Global Campus of Human Rights will significantly contribute to addressing some of the open questions regarding the fulfillment of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and climate justice.
