MAHRS Alumna Akylai Tenizbaeva Contributes to 7th Global Campus Policy Observatory on Academic Freedom
Akylai Tenizbaeva, a 2025 MAHRS alumna, contributed to the 7th edition of the Global Campus Policy Observatory through coordinated, multi-regional research on “Protecting, Promoting and Enjoying Academic Freedom: Trends, Challenges and Impacts from a Human Rights-Based Approach.” Her presentation on academic freedom in Central Asia was a highlight of the March 26, 2026, workshop hosted by GC Headquarters in Venice. Led by GC Research Manager Chiara Altafin, PhD, the project united eight policy analysts from the Global Campus Alumni (GCA) network across various regions. Funded by the European Commission, it examined emerging trends, traditional and new threats, cross-regional comparisons, and policy recommendations. Additionally, MAHRS Academic Director Dr. Anja Mihr and MAHRS visiting professor Dr. Saniia Toktogazieva contributed to the workshop discussions, both in person and online.
