Workshop on Children’s Rights Held in Chym-Korgon

On 30 May 2025, a workshop marking International Children’s Day took place at Abdykayir Kazakbayev Secondary School in the village of Chym-Korgon. The event was organized with the support of the Global Campus of Human Rights and the Right Livelihood Foundation.

The workshop was co-facilitated by Ms. Nazgul Kadyrova, BA Programme Specialist and lead facilitator of the Children’s Book Club at the OSCE Academy, and Ms. Kulsun Kulmatova, a Youth Advisory Group (YAG) member of the Global Campus Central Asia’s Children’s Rights initiative.

The session aimed to raise awareness among schoolchildren about children’s rights in Central Asia and featured the following interactive components:

  1. “Introduction to Children’s Rights in Central Asia” – a presentation that provided students with an overview of key rights and protections relevant to their lives and communities;
  2. Introduction to the Children’s Book Club – showcasing how literature can be a tool for exploring and understanding social justice and children’s rights;
  3. Presentation: “YAG members meeting in Venice” – Ms. Kulmatova, Youth Advisory Group member shared her inspiring experience participating in a Global Campus youth event in Italy, encouraging students to explore similar opportunities.

The workshop brought together 23 students and their teacher, who engaged enthusiastically with the presentations and expressed strong interest in learning more about children’s rights and youth leadership.
