On April 5th, the OSCE Academy in Bishkek hosted a Children’s Rights Workshop that brought together members of the Childe Lead Team. Organized with the generous support of the Global Campus Central Asia/Right Livelihood, this half-day event provided an engaging platform for both learning and collaboration.
The workshop kicked off with warm welcomes from:
-
Anja Mihr, Academic Director of the MAHRS Programme
-
Barbara Strasser, Children’s Rights Project Manager
-
Karlygach Nurmanbetova, Children’s Rights Officer
Their messages emphasized the significance of empowering children and young people to be active participants in shaping a rights-respecting society.
Participants jumped into the spirit of the day with an introductory “Name Game” and activities that explored child participation as a fundamental right rooted in the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).
The session on child engagement across the Global Campus Network featured inspiring insights from
-
John Paul Amah, Children’s Rights Project Manager
-
Kulsun Kulmatova, Youth Advisory Group (YAG) representative
Together, they shared success stories and practical strategies for youth-led advocacy.
In the second half, participants co-designed a Children’s Leadership Team, tackling critical questions like:
-
What do we want to stand for?
-
What are the urgent challenges children face?
-
How can young voices be heard louder and clearer?
The session wrapped up with concrete next steps and collective commitments for future action. The workshop included energizing breaks, group discussions, and a joint dinner to round off a day of meaningful connection and exchange.
This workshop served as a ground for team-building and for defining future actions.
