Dr. Anja Mihr, MAHRS Academic Director delivered a keynote speech at the International Conference 'Cambodia in the Mekong Nexus: Paths to a Sustainable Future' at Paragon International University in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

She focuses on the differences, cleavages, and mutual-reinforcing benefits between the EU’s GGI and China’s BRI, and on their political outcomes in terms of sustainable development versus regional modernization. Mihr argued that whilst the EU aims at long-term, norm- and standards-based sustainable development, China’s BRI focuses on short- and medium-term infrastructural investments and technical modernization.
