A new ARTE Reportage documentary on democracy in Kyrgyzstan features Kazy Rasul uulu, a student in the Master of Arts in Human Rights and Sustainability (MAHRS) programme at Global Campus Central Asia.
Originally a grassroots activist from Osh, Kazy works at the youth feminist organisation NoviyRitm and recently represented Kyrgyz civil society at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. Currently interning at the OSCE/ODIHR, Kazy uses the MAHRS programme to master international advocacy. Despite regional challenges and democratic backsliding, Kazy remains committed to defending queer and marginalised communities through creative activism, including Kyrgyz-language podcasts and storytelling.
The documentary highlights the vital, resilient work of human rights defenders like Kazy navigating today’s challenging political environment.
